As a creative in Los Angeles, you’re only as strong as your community. As a young artist, it’s your responsibility to connect and build with others as hungry and motivated by you. Enter Pay Day LA, a monthly Hip-Hop series in Los Angeles, dedicated to doing just that: building community within hip-hop and providing a platform for upcoming artist to be seen and heard. The series, started in 2017 by Hip-Hop artist and entrepreneur, El Prez, was created to showcase the rising abundance of Los Angeles hip-hop talent. Learn more about PayDay LA, the inspiration behind series and what inspired El Prez to dedicate the next upcoming event to women in Hip-Hop:

Tell us about PayDay LA. How long have you been doing this? What were favorite highlights for you during this series?

PayDay LA is a concert series on some dope, curated, rap shit. The idea is giving fans under-the-radar rising acts they’re proud to pay to see, and also giving artists a chance to get discovered and build their fanbase by being placed on dope lineups in front of influential LA crowds. No guest list. No VIP. It isn’t a showcase, it’s an experience. PayDay LA will be entering it's 2nd year of existence in Feb 2020 and it's been a great ride so far. Too many highlights to name but sets by artists such as Bale, Trizz, Sahtyre, Airplane James, Tef Poe, T.F., KB Devaughn and more were hella lit.

What was the inspiration behind “Queens Get The Money”?

We noticed that women are currently taking over this rap game like never before and deserve to be put in a brighter spotlight, so we threw together a fire lineup for the ultimate all women rap event.

Tell us more about the movement, what you're currently focused on and what are you most proud of?

I'm always focused on everything from my record label, Urban Street America Records which is through Foundation Digital and starts with El Prez the rap artist, and the music. So new music from myself is on the way, but also more events from PayDay LA. In addition to throwing the "Best Rap Show in LA", we also throw PAYPER, which is our monthly R&B event, and Queens Get the Money. I'm also a music consultant and provide artist management to rap duo We Are Skywalkers, and formerly to Asad Ill and Burning Giraph.

Check out the “Queens Get The Money” Show coming up Tuesday, October 1 at The Virgil! RSVP here and check out the featured artists on “LA Rising: Women In Hip-Hop Playlist” exclusively on Spotify.
