Behind the Beat: Got Damn It Dupri

Starting off his career with West Coast legends and hip-hop pioneers E-40 and Snoop Dogg, Dupri never imagined that in three short years he would be on his way to greatness. Producing one of the most popular songs in the club and streets, Rich Homie Quan's "Walk Thru" there's no telling where he will be in the next five years.

LA Pulse went Behind the Beat with one of the most promising producers on the West Coast for a quick Q&A:

If you could produce for anyone in the game right now who would it be?
Most definitely it would be Dave East.

What inspires you to make your beats?
My deceased grandmother, Beatrice Mills is my musical inspiration. I am also moved by the greats, Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Timbaland and other young talents, like Lex Luger, who are on the brink of greatness!

What's your advice for an upcoming artist building their brand?
Always believe in yourself and your brand.

What's your favorite track you produced?
Honestly, "Check Run It" with T.I.

What's the best approach in getting a placement opportunity?
Getting with the right people and building relationships with them to make opportunities.
